Marcus Fraser, born on the 23rd of June 1994, is a Scotsman who built quite a reputation for himself as a formidable defender with primary emphasis on central defence. Wolvering the No. 22 jersey for St Mirren, he brought his expertise from the pristine Celtic training grounds. Fraser stands tall at 6 ft (1.84m), carrying a well-equipped football physique of 12st 12lb (82kg).
In July 2012, the young Fraser started his journey at Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, joining the ranks as a trainee. His debut season for the big green, 2012-2013 was relatively mild for the young athlete who made just one first-team appearance in league matches. A brief stint away from Celtic saw Fraser join Cowdenbeath in the Lowland League in Scotland on loan in September 2014. His performance there was a tad bit brighter, making 11 first-team appearances in league matches for the 2014-2015 season.
January 2015 marked an end and a new beginning for Marcus Fraser. He then departed from Celtic, joining Ross County in the Premiership. His career seemed to pick up here with 16 first-team appearances and one goal in his first season. This momentum continued with a consistent upwards trend in appearances reaching a peak of 38 first team showings during the 2017-2018 season.
Another transfer came calling in July 2020 when Fraser moved to St Mirren in the Premiership. Since joining the squad, he established himself as a reliable member of their backline. The defender integrated into the team quite effectively, chalking up impressive numbers in first-team appearances season after season. One praiseworthy trait, perhaps, is his longevity, a testament to his footballing prowess and how valuable a player he is for the team.
Beyond the league games, Fraser put his stamina to the test as he participated in the League Cup 2024-2025 with one start, the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 with two starts, and the Conference League Qualifiers 2024-2025 with four starts. Marcus Fraser has proven time and time again that his contribution to the teams he's played for goes well beyond just his presence on the pitch.
The lad from Scotland, whose journey began on the Celtic training grounds to asserting his mark at St Mirren, has indeed navigated through the Scottish football circuit with a fair share of tenacity and perseverance. And it is far from over.
