Manuel Neuer, born on 27 March 1986 (age 40), is a German goalkeeper for Bayern Munich. An imposing 6ft 4in (1.93m) presence, he wears the No 1 shirt and remains part of the first-team picture rather than a name being carried out of courtesy.
His senior career had already taken shape at Schalke 04, where he made 27 league appearances in 2006-07. That spell matters, but only so far. Neuer’s career has been defined overwhelmingly by Bayern Munich, where he has made 388 league appearances across 15 seasons.
In 2025-26, he has still been used regularly: 21 Bundesliga appearances, one in the DFL-Supercup and 10 in the Champions League, making 32 Bayern appearances in all competitions. At this stage, that level of involvement says enough about his continuing relevance.
His current market value is around £3.5m, according to Transfermarkt. Neuer’s career is essentially a Schalke beginning followed by a long Bayern Munich spell, with the latter doing almost all of the shaping.
