Maik Nawrocki, a classic example of the modern defender, was born on 7 February 2001 in Germany and presently stands at the age of 25. He has carved out a career in football, typically occupying the position of a central defender. As a stalwart for his current club, Hannover 96, Nawrocki sports the number 6 jersey. Standing 6ft 2in (1.9m) tall and weighing 12st 3lb (78kg), his imposing physical presence is undeniable on the pitch.
Perhaps a testament to his talent and capabilities, Nawrocki's market value hovers around £1.7m, as detailed by Transfermarkt.
Nawrocki's football journey began as a mere trainee with SV Werder Bremen II in Germany's Regionalliga Nord back in July 2016. His first taste of competitive football elsewhere came in February 2021 when he was loaned to Warta Poznań in the Polish I Liga. He impressed in his debut season, netting once in three first-team appearances.
July 2021 wounded up being a pivotal period in Nawrocki's career as he was loaned to Legia Warsaw in Poland's premier football competition, the Ekstraklasa. He started making his mark quite instantly, making 19 first team appearances and scoring one goal in the 2021-2022 season, and found the back of the net four times over 25 appearances in the following season.
And then the pivotal moment came. Nawrocki's performances had duly caught the eye of giants Legia Warsaw who parted with around £1.2m to prise him away permanently from SV Werder Bremen II in July 2022. Not surprisingly, his performances maintained their high standards as he notched up 44 appearances and five goals over two seasons with the Polish side.
Celtic, an institution in the Scottish Premiership, became Nawrocki's next destination in July 2023, with around £3.7m changing hands in the deal. During his time with the Bhoys, Nawrocki graced the pitch in the famous green and white ten times in his debut season (2023-2024), followed by three appearances and one goal in his subsequent and final full season with the club.
In another turn of events, Nawrocki was loaned to Hannover 96 in the German 2. Bundesliga in July 2025. In the ongoing 2025-2026 season, he has already made 12 first-team appearances, cementing his place in the heart of their defence.
