Luke McCowan, born on 9 December 1997 (age 28), is a Scottish attacking midfielder with Celtic. His senior career has been shaped far more by Dundee than by any early footnote elsewhere, and it was there that he became a proven Premiership player rather than just another neat midfielder with tidy habits.
Across four seasons at Dundee, McCowan made 99 league appearances and scored 23 league goals. His best return came in 2023–24, when he scored 10 goals in 37 league games, a season that did most of the work in pushing him into Celtic’s view. That Dundee spell remains the foundation of his career.
Celtic signed him from Dundee in August 2024 for around £1m. He was not bought as a headline act, but he has stayed relevant in the squad and won the Premiership in 2024–25, while Celtic also finished runners-up in the Scottish Cup during his time at the club.
In 2025–26, McCowan has remained a regular first-team presence, making 30 league appearances and scoring one league goal. He has also played in the Scottish Cup, Champions League qualifying and the Europa League, taking him to 39 Celtic appearances and three goals across all competitions. His current market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
McCowan’s career is still anchored by what he did at Dundee, but his Celtic spell has moved beyond a simple squad signing. He remains involved, useful, and part of the current side.
