Scottish born central attacking midfielder, Luke McCowan, born on 9th December 1997 (hence, at the time of writing aged 28), currently sports the number 14 jersey at Celtic, standing at five feet nine inches tall (approximately 1.77 meters) and weighing 11 stone four pounds (around 72 kilograms).
According to the well-respected resource Transfermarkt, McCowan's market value is estimated at around £2.14m, a handsome sum in today's market.
In July 2016 McCowan began his career at Ayr United in the Championship in Scotland, however, he only made it onto the first team for league matches during the 2017-2018 season. His diligence and determination began to pay off.
In 2021, McCowan departed Ayr United, making the step up to join Dundee, in the Premiership in Scotland. It was during his tenure at Dundee that his talent truly began to shine. Across the course of four seasons, he made over 130 first team appearances, notching up 23 goals, a decent share for a midfielder. His best season was 2023-2024 where he made his mark in 37 matches and scored ten goals.
In August 2024, McCowan made the jump to Celtic in the Premiership, a move that chalked up a cool £1m on the books. He made an impression during the 2024-2025 season at Celtic, tallying up 33 first team appearances and six goals. As of the end of the current 2025-2026 season, he has amassed a total of 22 appearances with one goal.
Beyond his league performance, McCowan has also represented Celtic in the League Cup for the 2025-2026 season, with one goal in one start and two appearances as a substitute. In addition, he had a start and a substitute appearance in the Scottish Cup, a single substitute appearance in the Champions League Qualifiers, and both a start and substitute appearance in the Europa League during the 2025-2026 season for Celtic. McCowan's contribution to Celtic has been indisputable, and his career trajectory indicates there may be many good years ahead.
