Born in Honduras in the chill of January 2000, Luis Palma finds himself plying his trade in the significantly chillier climes of Glasgow, representing the mighty Celtic FC. Armed with a physique of 5ft 8in and 11st 2lb, this left winger dons the revered number 7 jersey for the Hoops.
From 2023 to 2024, Palma weaved his magic across the well-trodden pitches of the Premiership, igniting Celtic’s forward charge in 28 matches. The lad netted a commendable seven times and featured in the starting line up in 18 of those outings. Not merely confined to domestic duty, he surfaced in the Champions League, seeing off opponents twice in five appearances, and chipping with goal in the Scottish Cup to boot.
Our lad Palma didn’t just pop out of the blue, mind. He began his footy journey in Honduras with Vida, chalking up flexible shifts and a couple of goals in his debut season of 2017. His performance the following season was unremarkable, with a mere goal in four appearances.
His lad's next port of call was the USA, enjoying a stint with Real Maryland Monarchs in 2019. His performances were typically workmanlike; a goal in 13 appearances tells you as much.
The young gent returned to his familiar stomping ground at Vida afterwards, turning out for them for the next three seasons. Particularly noteworthy was his 2020-2021 campaign, where he lit up the Honduran league with a whopping 13 goals in 26 appearances.
Greece was his next destination, representing Aris FC in the Greek Super League. A respectable tally of two goals in 11 appearances in his first season led to a more fruitful second, contributing to a haul of 11 goals in 29 appearances.
Now, of course, we find him on Celtic soil. Joining us in 2023 - 24, he notched up seven goals in 28 appearances. His future lies with us in the coming season, and there’s hope that this Honduran dynamo will continue to make sparks fly on the pitch.
