The following season, he honed his skills further, taking to the field 32 times and contributing three goals to Rennes' tally.
Come January 2021, Assignon was loaned out from Rennes to Bastia, a club in Ligue 2. However, six months later in June, the defender returned to his parent club Rennes following the conclusion of his loan spell. In February 2024, his journey took him to the Premier League in England as he was loaned out to Burnley. This stint saw him score one goal in his 15 appearances in the 2023-2024 season. But, by June 2024, the Frenchman found himself back at Rennes after his loan period in England had ended.
In July 2025, Assignon moved from Rennes to Bundesliga's Stuttgart in a transaction that was reported to be around £10m. His current season (2025-2026) at Stuttgart has already yielded 14 first team appearances in league matches.
Moreover, Assignon has also left his footprint on competitions outside of the Bundesliga, taking part in the DFL-Supercup 2025-2026 for Stuttgart and displaying admirable performance in the Europa League 2025-2026 for Stuttgart.
