Logan Ross, in case the name has escaped you, was spawned in the verdant hills of Scotland on the 12th of May 2004, designating him as a sprightly 20-year old. Currently, he dons the No.31 jersey for Ross County, slotted in the distinctive goalkeeper position, photogenically diving for shots doubtlessly wider than a Glasgow tenement.
Ross's market value currently teeters at a dizzying €50k (Transfermarkt), or roughly £42k if you prefer a currency touched by Her Majesty's banks, a sum which one assumes includes a canny percentage set aside for his hair gel.
The lad's footballing voyage began in earnest way back in 2019 when Ross County, in an astonishing display of foresight, embraced him as a trainee. Warming benches in the Premiership will do that to you. When November 2020 rolled around, Lossiemouth couldn't resist borrowing our young shot-stopper, transporting him to the Highland League on loan. Adding to the boy's burgeoning collection of train tickets, he was promptly dragged back to Ross County in June 2021; clearly, someone missed him.
However, the romance was short-lived. As July 2021 hit the calendars, he was back on the road to Lossiemouth. A return to Ross County in January 2022 and another subsequent loan to Lossiemouth in July 2022 suggested the lad's got an incurable taste for the Highland air.
January 2023, and our nomadic keeper was back at County, just in time to pack his bags for yet another loan in the Highlands, this time flinging himself at shots for Brora Rangers. You'd think by now someone might have considered buying the boy his own set of keys.
August 2023 and it was off to Brora Rangers again, until February 2024, when due to what we can only assume was a clerical error, was sent to Huntly FC on loan. This latest Highland chapter lasted a precarious one month. For whatever reason, he found himself back at Ross County - testing the turnstiles, one speculates.
All in all, one marvels at the moving scenery young Ross must have experienced, taking the whistle-stop tour of Highland League. One only hopes his professional career will live up to the excitement of its geographical variety.
