Liel Abada, a talented forward, was born in Israel on the 3rd of October in 2001. Currently braving the field for Charlotte FC at the ripe age of 23, Abada is primarily employed as a right winger. Measuring at a modest 1.68m (or 5ft 6in) and weighing in at 68kg (10st 9lb), he's known for his agile play and swift manoeuvres. Adorning the number 11 jersey, Abada is not only a renowned player for his club, but also a representative of his native Israel in the national team.
Abada's journey to professional football began in earnest in July 2014, when he joined Maccabi Petah Tikva, a Premier League team in Israel, as a trainee. During his debut season (2018-2019) at this club, he made two first-team appearances in league matches. Over the subsequent seasons, Abada firmly established his place in the team. In the 2019-2020 season, he made 29 first-team appearances and netted eight goals; in 2020-2021, he went on to make 36 appearances, scoring 12 goals.
In July 2021, his career took a notable turn as he transferred from Maccabi Petah Tikva to Celtic Football Club in Scotland for a fee rounded at about £3.6m. His time at Celtic were some of his most productive years in professional football. In the 2021-2022 season, Abada made 36 appearances and scored ten goals in league matches, a feat he repeated in the subsequent season despite making two fewer appearances. His contributions, however, fell significantly in the 2023-2024 season, with only nine appearances and a lone goal to his name.
Then, in March 2024, Abada embarked on a new adventure as he left Celtic for the American Major League Soccer's Charlotte FC for approximately £6m. In his debut season, he made 24 first-team appearances and notched up seven goals for his team. He is expected to continue at Charlotte FC for the 2025 season. In addition to his career in the states, Abada competed impressively in the MLS Cup Play Offs 2024 for Charlotte FC, making two starts and one appearance as a substitute. He also represented Israel in the Olympics 2024, starting in all three games. As of now, his contribution in the 2025 MLS season for Charlotte stands at five goals in 13 starts and three appearances as a substitute.
