Liam Shaw, born on 12th March 2001, is a central midfielder hailing from England who currently plies his trade for Northampton Town. Standing at a solid 6ft 1in (1.87m), and tipping the scales at 11st 6lb (73kg), he represents an imposing presence on the pitch, sporting the number 29 on his back.
The journey of Shaw's professional career started back in July 2017, when he joined Sheffield Wednesday as a trainee. Ploughing his trade in the Championship, he eventually made his first team debut during the 2019-2020 season, featuring twice in league encounters. The ensuing season saw him not only making a significant 19 appearances, but he also found the net for the first time, scoring once.
In July 2021, Shaw's career path took him north of the border, joining Celtic in the Scottish Premiership for a fee of roughly £300k. Despite the change of scenery, Shaw only managed to make a single league appearance for his new team during the 2021-2022 season.
January 2022 brought about another shift for Shaw, albeit a temporary one, as he was loaned out to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership. His stint was brief, yet marginally more successful than his time at Celtic, as he managed to rack up seven league appearances. Upon returning to Celtic, he once again found himself loaned out in September 2022, this time to Morecambe in the English National League. There, Shaw enjoyed significant gameplay over the 2022-2023 season, scoring twice in 28 league appearances.
However, his nomadic football journey did not end there. In July 2023, Shaw was once again sent on loan, this time to Wigan Athletic in League One. After returning to Celtic, Shaw eventually parted ways with the club in October 2024, transferring to Fleetwood Town in League Two. A mere three months later, in January 2025, Shaw moved again, this time joining Northampton Town in League One for an undisclosed fee.
His current season (2025-2026) at Northampton Town has yet to see Shaw make an appearance in first-team league matches. Nevertheless, with his history of perseverance and adaptability, one can only imagine it is a matter of time.
