Introducing Liam Kelly, a Scottish-born goalkeeper who arrived in this world on the 23rd of January 1996, which, in case you've lost your calendar, makes him 29 years old. He can be spotted gallantly protecting the goal for Rangers, boasting the number 31 on his jersey. He's no small fry either, standing proud at 6ft 2in (1.89m) and tipping the scales at 12st 12lb (82kg), a sizable obstacle for those seeking to spoil his clean sheet. A career highlight includes representing the Scotland national team.
Let's stroll down memory lane to July 2004, when a young Kelly joined Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. As for the current season of 2024/2025, he's not been sat on the bench collecting splinters, having made nine first team appearances so far in the league matches.
Not one for staying put, our Mr Kelly departed Rangers for a season-long sabbatical in East Fife's League Two team in January 2016. He went on to make 16 first team appearances in his hibernation season of 2015/2016, before making a joyous return to Rangers in July 2016.
However, Kelly's taste for the Championship saw him leave Rangers for a season in Livingston in July 2016. He must've found the climate agreeable, as he made a whopping total of 70 appearances over two seasons (2016/2017 and 2018/2019) split by a return to Rangers.
Perhaps he had fallen out of love with the Scottish Premiership, or maybe he fancied a change of scenery, but either way, Kelly transferred from Rangers to Livingston in July 2018 for an undisclosed fee.
Like a moth to a flame, the roar of the Championship called Kelly once more, this time south of the border to Queens Park Rangers in July 2019, again the fee was kept under wraps.
After a season in the English Championship, Kelly was clearly pining for the good old Scottish fields, because he transferred to Motherwell in Scotland's Premiership in January 2021. After proving his worth with 18 first team appearances, Motherwell graciously offered him a permanent deal in July 2021. Over his tenure at Motherwell, from 2020 to 2024, Kelly stood between the sticks in no less than 132 league matches.
But Kelly is not one to rest on his laurels. Like a homing pigeon, he returned to his old stomping ground, transferring from Motherwell back to Rangers in July 2024. This season, our nomadic friend has once again donned the gloves nine times in league matches for Rangers.
As a bonus for any sports trivia enthusiasts, in the Scottish Cup 2024/2025, he made one start for Rangers, and in the Europa League 2024/2025, he made two starts. There you have it, a whistle-stop tour of Kelly's footballing career; making diving saves, conceding penalties and undoubtedly being the bane of a few opposing strikers' careers.
