Lewis Neilson, born on 15th May 2003, is a Scottish defender who mainly plays in the central defender's position for Falkirk. A sturdy lad, Neilson stands at 6'3" or 1.91m in metric terms, and weighs in at just over 13 stone, or 83kg if you prefer. He does his footballing business from the back, wearing the number 15 jersey on the field.
Neilson's footballing journey commenced in earnest in 2018, when he joined Dundee United as a trainee in July. In his debut 2020/2021 season at Dundee United, young Lewis made nine appearances in first-team league matches. He continued his progression in the following 2021/2022 season, making another six first-team appearances in league matches.
Come March 2021, Neilson had earned his first taste of a different environment as he was loaned out to Falkirk, still within the Scottish Premiership. Despite the season being in its latter stages, Neilson managed to make two appearances for Falkirk.
Returning to Dundee United in the summer of 2021, Neilson once again impressed upon the first team, making 15 appearances over two seasons. However, in July 2022, Neilson made the switch from Dundee United to Hearts, where he gained further valuable first-team experience, making 15 appearances over two seasons.
Further experience awaited Neilson when he was loaned out to Partick Thistle in August 2023. Playing in the Championship, Neilson truly made his mark, making 36 first-team appearances and even netting a goal for the season - a truly impressive feat for a defender.
Returning to Hearts in June 2024, Neilson was again in the first-team mix, making a combined 15 appearances over the next two seasons. However, a further loan opportunity awaited as he was sent out to St Johnstone in July 2024 on loan. With that club, Neilson made a respectable 17 first-team appearances.
With a wealth of experience under his belt, Neilson returned to Hearts in January 2025. He had one more stint on loan with Falkirk in July 2025, where he currently plies his trade. To date, in the 2025/2026 season, Neilson has made two first-team appearances and has been a mainstay in Falkirk's League Cup campaign with five starts to his name.
