On the 11th of January, 1996, in Germany, future Bayern Munich and Germany national team forward, Leroy Sané was born. Known principally for his skill on the right wing, this lofty footballer, standing at 6ft (1.83m) tall and weighing 12st 8lb (80kg), currently dons the number 10 jersey for Bayern Munich.
Sané's market value currently stands at approximately £38m according to Transfermarkt. With his Bayern Munich contract scheduled to conclude on the 30th of June, 2025, Leroy Sané is currently in the final phase of his contract with the club.
In July of 2011, Sané's professional journey in the beautiful game began with Schalke 04 in Germany's 2. Bundesliga as an enthusiastic trainee. His debut, in the 2013-2014 season, was fairly unspectacular, having only made a solitary appearance in a first team league match. However, the following season marked a significant step in his career, featuring in 13 first team league matches and scoring three goals. The subsequent season, 2015-2016, he made 33 appearances in league matches and impressively netted eight goals.
Following this promising run with Schalke 04, Sané was transferred to Manchester City in the Premier League in August 2016 for what was then a princely sum of around £37m. During his stay at Manchester City, Sané completed 26 appearances and scored five goals in his 2016-2017 season. In the next season (2017-2018), he racked up 32 appearances, this time with an impressive haul of ten goals. He continued this scoring spree in the 2018-2019 season, once again recording ten goals from 31 appearances. However, the 2019-2020 season was markedly less successful, with just a single appearance.
In a significant move in July 2020, Sané was snapped up by Bayern Munich for a considerable £45m. In his debut season (2020-2021), he made 32 first team appearances and scored six goals. The following season, again making 32 appearances, he managed one more goal than the previous campaign with seven. His performance remained consistent in terms of appearances in the 2022-2023 season, with an improved goal tally of eight, a figure he maintained in the 2023-2024 season despite a slight decrease in appearances down to 27. In the ongoing season of 2024-2025, he has thus far completed 18 appearances and netted six goals.
Sané has also been integral in his team's continental campaigns and proved his worth on the international stage. In the 2023-2024 Champions League for Bayern Munich, he scored twice from 11 starts and made one substitute appearance. Representing Germany in Euro 2024, he started twice and featured three times off the bench, while in the 2024-2025 Nations League, It was one goal from one start and one substitute appearance. In the ongoing 2024-2025 Champions League campaign for Bayern Munich, he's scored once in four starts and six appearances as a substitute.
