Kundai Benyu, born on the 12th of December, 1997 (now 27 years of age), is an English-born football player who currently occupies the central midfield position for Vestri. Standing at 5ft 9in (1.76m) tall and weighing 11st 11lb (75kg), Kundai has not only made his mark in various football clubs, but has also represented the Zimbabwe national team.
In July of 2014, Benyu began his journey in professional football when he joined Ipswich Town in the Premier League as a trainee. After two years of honing his skills in the Premier League, he moved to Aldershot Town in the National League on loan in December 2016. During his debut season (2016-2017) at Aldershot, he made 22 first team appearances and hit the net five times in league matches.
The year 2017 marked the start of Benyu's journey with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, having transferred from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee. His time at Celtic was rather modest, with a single appearance in the league matches during the 2017-2018 season.
In January 2018, Benyu was loaned to Oldham Athletic, also in the National League. He appeared twice for Oldham that season before returning to Celtic in June 2018. His stint back at Celtic seemed a repeat of the previous season, with just one first team appearance.
February 2019 saw Benyu move across the North Sea to join Swedish side, Helsingborgs IF in the second-tier Superettan, again on loan. His time in Sweden was busier; he made ten first team appearances and managed to find the net once that season.
He returned to Celtic in January 2020, where his participation remained consistent, with one more first-team appearance. His time with the Celts concluded later that year when he transferred to Wealdstone in the National League in England in October 2020.
His current tenure with the Icelandic club, Vestri in Besta deild karla, commenced in February 2021 following a move from Wealdstone. However, to date, he has not made a first team appearance for Vestri in the 2024 season.
