Kieran Tierney, born 5 June 1997 (age 28) on the Isle of Man, is a Scotland international left-back back at Celtic after six years away. He returned from Arsenal in July 2025, wearing squad number 63, and has quickly become a regular part of the side again rather than a decorative comeback story.
His first Celtic spell carried real weight. Tierney left for Arsenal in August 2019 for around £25m, having already won five Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups with the club. It was a major sale, and a fair measure of how quickly he had gone from promising full-back to important first-team player.
The return has been productive. In 2025-2026, Tierney has made 33 league appearances and scored six goals, his best league return, with 50 Celtic appearances in all competitions. His season has also included League Cup, Scottish Cup, Champions League qualifying and Europa League football, and his form has been strong and consistent.
He has remained involved with Scotland too, making three European World Cup qualifying appearances this season and scoring once. His market value is around £7m, according to Transfermarkt.
Tierney’s career now has a clear shape: an important first run at Celtic, a high-profile move to Arsenal, and a return that still has proper footballing substance. He is not just back in familiar colours; he is still contributing week to week.
