Kieran Tierney was born on 5 June 1997 (age 28) in the Isle of Man and represents Scotland. A left-back with Celtic from an early stage, he became a proper first-team player in Glasgow rather than a prospect spoken about in the future tense for very long.
His first Celtic spell brought the sort of medal haul that tends to make a young player grow up quickly: five Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups. He left Celtic for Arsenal in August 2019 for around £25m, a fee that reflected both his standing at the club and the market’s appetite for a proven full-back with plenty still ahead of him.
Tierney returned to Celtic from Arsenal in July 2025, taking squad number 63 again. The return has not been ceremonial. In 2025-2026 he has made 35 league appearances and scored six league goals, his most productive league season, and has also featured in the League Cup, Scottish Cup, Champions League qualifiers and Europa League. Across all competitions for Celtic this season, he has made 53 appearances and scored six goals.
He has remained involved with Scotland as well, making three European World Cup qualifying appearances this season and scoring once. His current market value is around £7m, according to Transfermarkt.
Tierney’s career has taken him from Celtic’s first team to Arsenal and back again, with a substantial Celtic honours list already behind him. In 2025-2026, he is still a regular presence rather than a nostalgic addition, which is the important distinction.
