Scottish lad Kieran Tierney, born on June 5th, 1997, stands at a decent 5ft 10in and tips the scales at 11st 13lb. A sturdy left back, he sports the number 3 on his back and while not battling it out on English soil, he's represented the Scottish national team with patriotic fervour.
In the latest season (2023-24), he trotted onto the pitch for 20 matches, took part in the European Championship (twice with the privilege of starting) and started in 5 Euro Qualifier games. Not your typical holiday, I'm sure.
Now, let's have a quick rewind. Back to a time when Tierney was cutting his teeth at our very own Celtic. Making his debut in the 2014 - 2015 season, he made a total of 2 appearances. Not much, but we all have to start somewhere. The following season saw a bit more action; Tierney appeared 23 times and managed to find the net once. Better, much better.
The 2016 - 2017 season was fairly similar to the earlier one, another 24 appearances and another goal. The lad was keeping the balance. That next season though, he decided to up the ante. Appearing a total of 32 times, he managed to score 3 goals, a personal best for him in a single season at Celtic.
His stint in the 2018 - 2019 season saw him make 21 appearances without any goals. In 2019, for a whopping £25 million, Arsenal brought Tierney over from Celtic.
In England, he found his feet fairly quickly. In the following 4 seasons, he wore the Arsenal jersey 91 times and managed to add 3 more goals to his tally. But it seems wanderlust took a hold of him, and Tierney transferred on loan to Real Sociedad in Spain where he appeared 20 times for them in the 2023 - 2024 season.
The loan agreement ended in June 2024 and Tierney returned back to familiar territory; Arsenal. A round trip then, for the left back. The question lingers though, how will Tierney fare in his new chapter back in England?
