Kieran Tierney, born on 5 June 1997 (age 29), is a Scotland international from the Isle of Man and a left-back for Celtic. He came through at Celtic, wearing squad number 63, and became one of the club’s most reliable first-team players before Arsenal paid around £25m for him in August 2019.
His first Celtic spell brought the sort of medal haul that explains why his return mattered: five Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups. Tierney was never just an academy story made good. He became a proper senior player quickly, with the edge and consistency that made the move to England feel inevitable rather than speculative.
He returned to Celtic from Arsenal in July 2025, and has been a regular presence in the 2025-26 side. It has also been his most productive league season, with six goals in 35 league appearances. Across all competitions for Celtic this season he has made 49 appearances and scored six goals, including games in the Scottish Cup, Champions League qualifiers and Europa League.
Tierney has remained involved with Scotland too, making three appearances in European World Cup qualifying this season and scoring once. His current market value is around £7m, according to Transfermarkt.
His career has moved from Celtic prospect to established Celtic player, then to Arsenal, and back again. In 2025-26 he is not being treated as a nostalgia signing. He is in the team, contributing goals from left-back, and still carrying clear first-team importance.
