Kevin Dąbrowski, born on the 9th June 1998, is a Polish chap and goalkeeper playing for the not-so-illustrious Raith Rovers. Towering at 6ft 4in, which for the metrically inclined is 1.95m, Dąbrowski has a solid build weighing an impressive 12st 10lb (81kg) and models his number 1 jersey - or not. The masses hardly line up to choose Dąbrowski replica shirts from the club store, do they?
The lad started his football journey in Lech Poznań II in the III Liga in Poland before securing a loan deal to Hibernian in January 2017. His debut season in 2021 - 2022 was less than prolific, with a scanty fix of six first-team appearances. A few months later, he transplanted himself permanently–or so it seemed–to Hibernian, again for an undisclosed fee. It must have been an impressive number, right? Because undisclosed always speaks of sums so mind-boggling they tend to embarrass the hoi polloi.
After that, our (anti)hero has turned into a full-blown football nomad, with a rather bizarre love for the Lowland League in Scotland. With loan moves to Berwick Rangers and Cowdenbeath, Dąbrowski seemed determined to venture to the never heard corners of Scottish football. Each enchanting journey followed the same narrative; a short stint, a return to Hibernian and a low number of first team games.
In September 2020, he decided to spice things up a bit with a transfer to Dumbarton in the League One, only to return back on the completion of his loan. What's that saying about old habits dying hard?
Eventfully, or not, Dąbrowski moved on to Queen of the South on loan in 2023 where he kept up his streak of mediocrity with six first team games and then, finally found a more permanent home in Raith Rovers in 2023. There, it seems the gods of football decided to bless him with a little more game time, resulting in 34 appearances in the first season and 22 so far in the current one.
Our man's wait for glory continues, with insignificant cameos in the League Cup, the Scottish Cup and the Premiership Play-offs. Overall, his number of starts could be counted on the fingers of two hands. Did you expect otherwise? If so, you might be in the wrong place.
