Born on the 6th of June, 2001 in Nigeria, Junior Adamu is a 24-year-old forward who strikes fear into the opposition, striding forth as the spearhead of the mighty Celtic FC assault. Standing proud at 5ft 11in (1.82m) and weighing in at 11st 6lb (73kg), Adamu presents an imposing figure on the pitch.
Adamu’s current valuation hovers roughly around the £4.3m mark, as confirmed by Transfermarkt. However, his worth in the eyes of the faithful Celtic supporters is undoubtedly astronomical.
Adamu first laced his boots as a professional at FC Liefering, gracing the Austrian 2. Liga. Over the triumvirate of debut seasons from 2018 to 2021, he made 49 first team appearances and struck the back of the net 26 times, a commendable strike rate for a youthful player in a highly competitive league.
A loan switch saw Adamu ply his trade at St. Gallen of the Swiss Super League in the later half of the 2020-2021 season, where he found net on six occasions in 14 appearances.
The season of 2021 saw Adamu make the leap to Red Bull Salzburg, the dominant force in Austria's Bundesliga, for an undisclosed fee. Over two seasons, our man Adamu made a significant impact with 58 appearances and a total of 17 goals to his name.
Adamu's next port of call was Germany's Bundesliga, where he joined Freiburg in 2023 for around £6.9m. While his scoring exploits were fewer in this challenging league, with three goals in 49 appearances over 2.5 seasons, Adamu remained a consistent contributor to Freiburg's progress.
Interestingly, Adamu did a short stint with Freiburg II in the Regionalliga Südwest in early 2024, making two league appearances. However, he quickly returned to Freiburg's first team to resume his Bundesliga duties.
Adamu's saga currently persists under the Celtic banner, having joined the esteemed Scottish Premiership side on loan in February 2026. Despite yet to make his league debut, there's no doubt that Junior Adamu's raw power, fearless approach and incisive scoring ability will form a crucial part of Celtic's ongoing endeavours.
