Julian Araujo, born 13th August 2001 and currently at the tender age of 24, hails from across the pond - from the great United States of America, if you'd just permit me to be more accurate. Donning the number 22 jersey, Araujo, a skilful defender primarily responsible for safeguarding the right flank, now busies himself at the heart of Celtic's backline. The lad stands at 5ft 10 inches in height (or 1.78m in new money) and tips the scales at an athletic 11 stone (roughly about 70kg).
The lad's exploits on the pitch have fetched him quite the market value, pegged around £8.5m according to his Transfermarkt profile (Transfermarkt).
Touted as an emerging talent, Araujo's trade was first recognised by LA Galaxy in the MLS back in March 2019. The young promising defender amassed a considerable amount of first team experience during his spell at LA Galaxy - making 18 appearances in his debut season (2019), 17 appearances in 2020 (with a goal to his name), 32 appearances in 2021 and a whopping 33 first-team appearances in 2022.
In January 2023, with a seemingly irresistible offer worth around £3.5m from FC Barcelona, Araujo packed his bags and headed for La Liga in Spain. However, Araujo's stint at Barcelona was cut short, and he found himself on loan to Las Palmas in Spain's Segunda División in August 2023. His spell at Las Palmas saw him make 25 first team appearances and score one goal.
Araujo's journey in the world of football saw another twist in August 2024. Moving from sunny Spain to the drizzling shores of England, he transferred to Bournemouth in the Premier League for an undisclosed sum. Whilst warming up to the new weather, Araujo was able to make 12 appearances for Bournemouth during the 2024-2025 season.
January 2026 saw him ply his trade at an even colder clime when Araujo transferred to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, on loan. Since donning the green and white, Araujo has put in four sterling performances for Celtic in the ongoing 2025-2026 season.
Notably, Araujo has also represented the Mexico national team - a call-up that led him to feature in the Gold Cup 2025 where he bagged two starts under his belt.
