Joshua Brenet, born on the 20th of March 1994 in the Netherlands, is a defender known for his work as a right back, currently playing for Livingston. At a height of 5ft 11in (1.81m) and weighing 11st 9lb (74kg), he holds the number 30 jersey. Brenet has also represented Curacao on the international field.
Brenet's football career began at PSV in the Eredivisie of the Netherlands in July 2011 when he joined as a trainee. His first season in 2013 - 2014 saw him making 12 appearances in the first team for league matches. He maintained a steady increase in appearances, with 18 in the 2014 - 2015 season and scoring one goal, 27 in the 2015 - 2016 season, 20 in the 2016 - 2017 season with one goal, and 32 in the 2017 - 2018 season with another goal to his name.
In July 2018, Brenet made a leap from the Eredivisie and PSV to the Bundesliga in Germany, in a move to 1899 Hoffenheim for a fee of about Β£3.2m. In his debut season (2018 - 2019), he made 14 appearances and scored two goals. The 2020 - 2021 season saw him on the fields only once for the first team.
January 2020 marked a change as Brenet transferred on loan to Vitesse in the Eerste Divisie in the Netherlands. He made four appearances in this season (2019 - 2020), then returned to Hoffenheim in June 2020 after completing his loan. His appearances in the 2018 - 2019 and 2020 - 2021 seasons for Hoffenheim remained unchanged.
The following January, in 2022, saw Brenet once again on the move, this time to FC Twente in the Eredivisie. In the 2021 - 2022 season, Brenet made 13 appearances and scored two goals. In the 2022 - 2023 season, Brenet made an impressive 32 appearances, with seven goals to his credit. The 2023 - 2024 season found him on the field 15 times, scoring two goals.
In September 2024, Brenet left the Eredivisie and FC Twente to transfer to Al-Rayyan in the Stars League in Qatar. After a year there, he made his way to Scotland to join Livingston in the Premiership in October 2025. In the current season of 2025 - 2026, Brenet has marked eight first team appearances in league matches.
Aside from his extensive club history, Brenet has also played in the World Cup Qualifiers North & Central America 2024 - 2026 for Curacao, making four starts and one appearance as a substitute. He also took part in the Gold Cup 2025 for Curacao, with two starts to his name.
