English-born goalkeeper, Josh Clarke was born on 28th July 2004, making him now a seasoned 20 years of age. Currently committed to Partick Thistle, at 6ft 2in (1.88m) tall and tipping the scales at 13st 3lb (84kg), Clarke indeed carries a formidable presence between the posts. Interestingly, he has also earned the opportunity to represent the Northern Ireland national team.
Clarke's professional career commenced in July 2021 with Glenavon in the Northern Irish Premiership. However, it was not long before the keeper caught the eye of Scottish Premiership giants, Celtic, resulting in his transfer from Glenavon by August 2022. The sum involved remains undisclosed.
A year after his big move to Celtic, in August 2023, Clarke was loaned out to Airdrieonians in the Scottish Championship. His time here was apparently spent developing under competitive circumstances, resulting in his first team debut, albeit in a single league match.
Immediately following the end of his loan spell at Airdrieonians, Clarke returned to Celtic before being loaned out again, this time to Ayr United in the Scottish Championship in February 2024. Over the course of the 2023 - 2024 season, and the subsequent 2024 - 2025 season with Ayr United, Clarke made a total of 20 first team appearances in league matches.
Upon completion of his loan at Ayr United in June 2024, Clarke once again rendezvoused back at Celtic, only to be sent on loan to Ayr United again in February 2025. The 2023 - 2024 and 2024 - 2025 seasons at Ayr United witnessed Clark making 20 first team appearances in league matches.
On successfully concluding his loan spell at Ayr United in June 2025, Clarke returned to Celtic, before being loaned out once more. This time, he was sent to Partick Thistle in the Scottish Championship in July 2025. While the 2025 - 2026 season still awaits, Clarke's performance is eagerly anticipated at Partick Thistle.
Despite his young age, Clarke's journey within Scottish football has been footloose, marked by multiple loans and invaluable match experience. The soliditude he has demonstrated within the goalposts of multiple clubs, combined with his ability to cope with pressures of new environments, stands testament to a promising career trajectory.
