Scottish footballer Josh Campbell, born on 6 May 2000, now aged 25, makes his mark on the field primarily as a central midfielder for Hibernian. At a robust stature of 5ft 11in (1.82m) tall and weighing 11st 9lb (74kg), Campbell is a considerable presence on the pitch, donned in the number 32 jersey.
Back in July 2016, Campbell began his professional career at Hibernian, joining the club as a trainee. His potential began to shine through as he made his debut in the 2021 - 2022 season, where he appeared 26 times for the first team, scoring his first league goal. The following season, Campbell made a remarkable improvement, making 36 first team appearances and netting eight goals. He continued this impressive trajectory in the 2023 - 2024 season, adding another three goals to his tally from the 19 first team games he played. The young midfielder already boasts 31 first team appearances in the current 2024 - 2025 season, along with four goals to his name.
In an interesting phase of his career, Campbell left Hibernian for a loan spell at Airdrieonians in the Championship, in January 2019. After adding to his repertoire of experiences in a new environment and different level of competition, Campbell returned to Hibernian, his parent club, in June 2019.
There were further loan spells that lie ahead in Campbell's progression. He transferred to Arbroath in the League One in Scotland, on loan in August 2019. By January 2020, he was beckoned back to Hibernian from his loan spell. However, in September 2020, he was once again loaned out, this time to Edinburgh City in the League Two. He was welcomed back to Hibernian after completion of his loan in June 2021.
Campbell, with his growing experience and strength, has played a crucial role in Hibernian's 2024 - 2025 League Cup and Scottish Cup campaigns. In the former, he started four games and made a cameo appearance as a substitute once. In the latter, he started twice with another appearance off the bench as a substitute.
