Our lad Josef Bursik, born on the 12th of July, 2000, is now a sprightly 24-year-old. He's a native of England and currently, he commands the goal for Hibernian. With a height of 6ft 1in (1.87m) and a weight of 12st 1lb (77kg), he's not easily overlooked. He's most easily spotted in his number 1 jersey.
His journey started in July 2016 when he joined AFC Wimbledon in the English League Two as a trainee. A year later, in July 2017, Bursik made a move from AFC Wimbledon to Stoke City in the Championship, shelling out an undisclosed fee. He made his debut in the 2020-2021 season with Stoke City, appearing 15 times in first team league matches. He increased this count to 19 appearances in the 2021-22 season and added another 16 appearances in the 2022-23 season.
During August 2019, he was loaned out to Accrington Stanley in the League Two, only to return to Stoke City a year later in June 2020. He again took on loan duty, transferring to Doncaster Rovers in August 2020 in League Two, but it was a short stint, returning to Stoke City by November 2020.
The following year, he accepted another loan offer in April 2021, this time coming from Peterborough United in League One. The loan completion by May 2021 saw Bursik returning back to Stoke City. But within the same month, he was on the move again, this time being loaned out to Lincoln City in League One, only to return to Stoke in June 2021.
From being a steadfast presence in Stoke City, Bursik then found himself transferred to the Pro League's Club Brugge in Belgium, in January 2023, with the specifics of the deal remaining undisclosed. Fast forward to July 2024, Bursik was on loan yet again, this time to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership where he currently stands tall. During the current 2024-2025 season, Bursik has made 13 first-team appearances in league matches and participated in the League Cup 2024-2025 for Hibernian with four starts.
