Josef Bursik, an Englishman born on the 12th of July, 2000, is a goalkeeper who currently plays for Hibernian. He stands 6 feet 1 inch tall (1.87m), and tips the scales at 12 stone 1 pound (77kg). He is the holder of the prestigious number 1 jersey.
In July of 2016, Bursik began his footballing journey joining AFC Wimbledon in England's League Two as a trainee. In 2017, he made the significant move from AFC Wimbledon to Stoke City, a team competing in the English Championship, for an undisclosed fee.
His career at Stoke City was productive but interjected by several loan spells. He made 15 first team appearances in league matches in his debut season (2020-2021) at Stoke City. Continuing to make an impact in his subsequent seasons, he featured in 19 and 16 league matches in the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons respectively.
Throughout his time with Stoke City, Bursik also experienced loan spells at Accrington Stanley (August 2019), Doncaster Rovers (August 2020) and Peterborough United (April 2021) in League Two, as well as Lincoln City (May 2021) in League One. These temporary migrations allowed him to acquire further experience in England's lower divisions.
In January 2023, a notable milestone in Bursik's career occurred when he transferred from Stoke City in England to Club Brugge playing in the Pro League in Belgium. The transfer marked his first advent onto the international football stage, this also for an undisclosed fee.
Currently, Bursik plies his trade at Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. This move, which materialised in July 2024, saw the keeper sent on loan from Club Brugge. In the ongoing season of 2024-2025, he has displayed his proficiency, making 13 first-team appearances in league matches. Additionally, he has started four times in the League Cup for Hibernian.
