Jordan Obita, born on 8th December 1993 now aged 32, is an English defender who primarily plays as left back for Hibernian. In terms of physicality, Obita stands at 5ft 10in (1.8m) and weighs around 11st 6lb (73kg). Obita, whose jersey bears the number 21, has also had the honour of representing the Uganda national team.
Obita stepped into the professional footballing world in July 2010, joining Reading in England's League One. Over the course of multiple seasons with Reading, Obita made numerous appearances and netted a few crucial goals. Notably in seasons 2013 - 2014 and 2016 - 2017, Obita scored one and two goals respectively. However, during his time at Reading, Obita also had short stints at other clubs on loan.
In January 2012, Obita transferred to Barnet in League Two, England on loan from Reading. Obita didn't let any opportunity go to waste and made five first team appearances in league matches in his debut season at Barnet. Shortly after, in March 2012, Obita then transferred on loan to Gillingham in League Two, England, where he marked his presence by bagging three goals in six first team league appearances. After a brief spell at Gillingham, Obita returned to Reading.
Staying true to his nomadic football journey, Obita found himself at Portsmouth, in the Championship on a loan from Reading in August 2012. Here, he made eight first team appearances and scored one goal in league matches. After finishing his loan at Portsmouth, Obita returned to Reading once again. Then, in January 2013, he moved to another club in League Two, Oldham Athletic on loan.
Finally, in November 2020, Obita ended his long relationship with Reading and transferred to Oxford United in the Championship. A few months later, in January 2021, Obita moved from Oxford United to Wycombe Wanderers in League One for an undisclosed fee. His time at Wycombe Wanderers mounts up to a total of 37 first team appearances in league matches over two seasons.
In July 2023, Obita moved north, joining Hibernian in Scotland's Premiership where he continues to play today. Since joining Hibernian, Obita has racked up a consistent number of appearances. In the ongoing season 2025 - 2026, he has already made 22 first team appearances in league matches.
Beyond his club career, Obita has represented Uganda on the international stage, such as in the Africa CON 2025 where he started in three fixtures. For Hibernian, he's also participated in various cup and European competitions, implying a busy schedule for the seasoned defender.
