Manchester-born defender, Jordan Obita, who honed his soccer skills primarily as a left back, was born on 8 December 1993. Standing 1.8m (5ft 10in) tall and weighing a sturdy 73kg (11st 6lb), Obita wears the number 21 jersey while representing Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. His career trajectory sailed from the modest waters of the English 'League One', where he first came to prominence in July 2010 with 'Reading', before charting course to Scottish shores in 2023.
In his tenure with 'Reading', Obita made consistent first team appearances: 34 (scoring once) in the 2013 - 2014 season; 43 in the 2014 - 2015 season; 26 in the 2015 - 2016 season; 37 (scoring twice) in the 2016 - 2017 season; a limited 2 appearances in the 2017 - 2018 season; and 21 appearances (contributing two goals) in the 2019 - 2020 season.
In January 2012, Obita was loaned out to Barnet in England's 'League Two'. In his single season (2011 - 2012) with Barnet, he made five first team appearances. Embarking on another loan stint the following month, Obita made six first team appearances and scored three goals for Gillingham in the 'League Two'.
He circled back to his parent club 'Reading' in May 2012. In line with his fluctuating career pattern, Obita was loaned out to Portsmouth in the 'Championship' and then to Oldham Athletic in 'League Two' for the 2012 - 2013 season. With each, he made eight first team appearances, scoring once for Portsmouth.
After a series of loan spells and returning to Reading, a significant step came in November 2020 when he moved to Oxford United, only to transfer to Wycombe Wanderers in the 'League One' in England a couple of months later in January 2021, for an undisclosed fee. Establishing himself in the first team setup, Obita made nine appearances in the 2020 - 2021 season and 28 in the 2022 - 2023 season.
Given Obita's consistent performances, he was noticed north of the border and in July 2023 transferred from Wycombe Wanderers to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. His first season (2023 - 2024) with Hibernian saw him make a commendable 34 first team appearances, scoring once. The following season (2024 - 2025) he made 35 appearances, and has already started 12 matches in the ongoing season of 2025 - 2026.
Obita's club contributions extended to continental competition as well, with two starts in the League Cup 2025-2026 and two in the Europa League Qualifiers 2025 - 2026 for 'Hibernian'. Adding another layer to his impressive stats, he made four starts in the Conference League Qualifiers 2025 - 2026 for the Scottish outfit.
