Kilting up on 24th July 1996, Jordan McGhee hails from the heart of Scotland. The robust defender is often found firmly lodged in the right back position for Dundee, demonstrating a sound sense of defensive capability. Measuring an imposing 6ft 2in (1.88m) in height and tipping the scales at 12st 3lb (78kg), McGhee strikes an imposing figure on the pitch. He proudly dons the number 6 jersey for his team.
To put a price tag on such a talent is somewhat unromantic, yet according to the discerning experts over at Transfermarkt, McGhee's current market value stands at a solid €350k, which equates to roughly £300,000. His contract with Dundee is set to expire on 31st May 2025, but we dare say there's still plenty of game time to be had before that ink dries up.
McGhee began his career under the guidance of Hearts, a worthy Premiership contender in Scotland. Climbing the ranks as a trainee since July 2007, he graced the first team as a player in the 2012-2013 season, making a single appearance.
Performance and perseverance permitted McGhee more moments on the pitch, and he made steadfast progress. The 2013-2014 season saw 17 appearances from him, alongside his first league goal. The strike rate amplified over the forthcoming seasons, with 18 appearances and two goals in the 2014-2015 season, and 22 appearances in the 2015-2016 season. He was truly marking his presence known at Hearts.
A brief loan spell at Middlesbrough in the English Championship served as appetizer in July 2016, before a key moment in McGhee's career saw him transfer to Falkirk in the Scottish Championship for an undisclosed fee in August 2017 where he scored two goals in 17 appearances.
His journey then brought him to Dundee in the Premiership, continuing his steady path of goal scoring and helping to reinforce the team’s defensive line, with 15 games and two goals already in the current 2024-2025 season. In addition, McGhee has also made his mark in the League Cup 2024-2025 for Dundee, with one goal across six starts and splashed his talent in the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 with a single start.
