Jon McCracken, born in Scotland on 24 May 2000, currently stands as a 1.85m (6ft) tall, 77kg (12st 1lb) goalkeeper for Dundee. The 25-year-old shot-stopper is also proud to boast several representations for the Scotland national team. McCracken, who currently dons the number 1 jersey, has been valuated at approximately £425,000, according to Transfermarkt, and his contract with Dundee is set to run until 30 June 2026.
McCracken started his football journey in England when he joined Norwich City as a trainee in August 2016. Six years on from that start, in July 2022, he found himself crossing the Irish Sea for a loan spell with Bohemian FC in the Irish Premier Division. Despite playing only five league matches during his debut season with Bohemians, McCracken proved that his football journey was only just beginning.
In March 2023, McCracken returned to England for a loan period with Stevenage in League One. That season, he made a solitary appearance for the team before transitioning to Scottish football with Dundee in July 2023. His first season, 2023 - 2024, with Dundee in the Premiership saw McCracken make 12 first team appearances. This was followed by a loan to League Two side Accrington Stanley in September 2023, before he came back to Dundee in February 2024. Having experienced a taste of Scottish football, McCracken's performances began to improve. Over the next season, 2024 - 2025, he managed a total of 16 league appearances for Dundee, and, in the current season 2025 - 2026, McCracken has already made eight appearances.
McCracken permanently shifted his allegiance to Dundee from Norwich City in July 2024. Whilst in Scotland, he has not only witnessed regular league action, but also participated in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 and the Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025, which saw him begin two matches and one match respectively.
Notably absent from McCracken's career history is any stint with the Celts. However, the 25-year-old shows promise that may yet bring him to Celtic Park in his professional journey.
