Jon McCracken, born on 24 May 2000 in Scotland, is both a national asset and a staunch guard for Dundee Football Club's goal line. Possessing a towering figure standing at 6ft (1.85m) and a substantial weight of around 12st 1lb (77kg), he's an imposing figure between the sticks. Over time, he has become a familiar sight in the number 1 jersey for his club and occasionally for Scotland's national team.
The lad managed to carve a modest niche for himself in the football sphere, with his current market value hovering around the £500k mark, as cited by the Transfermarkt. Moreover, as of the contract he signed with Dundee, he has a commitment to the club till the 30th of June, 2026.
Tracing McCracken's modest career beginnings, he joined Norwich City as a trainee in the August of 2016. Despite being a team in the English Championship, it was sufficient to provide him with the grounding required in this all-encompassing career. Following this, in July 2022, he was loaned out to Bohemian FC, a force in the Premier Division in Rep. Ireland. Having made five appearances in his debut season at the club, McCracken had started to make his footprints in professional football.
Thereafter, in March 2023, he was again loaned, this time to Stevenage, a League One team in England. Even though he only made a solitary appearance in the 2022 - 2023 season, it was enough to secure a further loan move.
Subsequently, in July 2023, Dundee FC of the Scottish Premiership beckoned, with McCracken securing a loan deal. His performances improved with 12 first team appearances in the 2023 - 2024 season. His form continued in the current season, the 2024 - 2025 one, with him already having 13 first team appearances under his belt.
While amidst his time at Dundee, McCracken managed to fit in a loan spell at Accrington Stanley, a League Two side in England. Following this brief interlude, and another loan spell at Dundee, the lad was finally transferred permanently from Norwich City to Dundee in July 2024. This was after a rather successful loan spell where he logged 12 first team appearances in the 2023 - 2024 season. In the ongoing 2024 - 2025 season, he has already gone on to add another 13 appearances, with half the season still to play.
He was even seen on pitch for the League Cup 2024 - 2025 for Dundee, with three starts to his name, consolidating his growing stature in the Scottish football landscape.
