Joël Monteiro, born on 5 August 1999 (age 27), is a Swiss left winger whose senior career has settled firmly at Young Boys. A commanding 6ft 3in (1.91m), he is an unusually tall wide player, and his current market value is around £6m, according to Transfermarkt.
Early loan football helped move him from promise into regular senior work, but Young Boys has been the main stage. Across six seasons he has made 131 league appearances and scored 27 league goals, a sizeable body of work rather than a passing contribution.
His most productive league campaign came in 2023-24, when he scored 12 goals in 32 appearances. The start to 2026-27 has also been useful: five goals in 11 appearances in all competitions for Young Boys, including two in domestic league football and three in the Europa League.
Monteiro’s career is not a long list of defining stops. It is mainly the story of a winger who developed through early senior exposure, then became a regular and productive player at Young Boys.
