Joe Gauci, born on 4 July 2000 (age 25), is an Australian goalkeeper with Aston Villa. A commanding 6ft 4in (1.94m) presence, he has a current market value of around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
His career is still shaped most clearly by Adelaide United. Before that spell took proper hold, early loan football helped give him the senior grounding young goalkeepers rarely get quickly. Adelaide then became the place where he built a first-team profile, making 65 league appearances across four seasons.
His first Adelaide league season, 2020-2021, brought 10 appearances and set the basis for the run that followed. For a goalkeeper still working his way into senior football, the value was fairly plain: regular responsibility, regular scrutiny, and no hiding place.
Gauci is now at Aston Villa, where his league opportunities have not yet arrived in 2025-2026. He has still had cup football, making four FA Cup appearances and two in the League Cup, while also featuring five times for Australia in Asian World Cup qualifying.
At this stage, Gauci’s career is that of an Australian goalkeeper formed largely at Adelaide United, now trying to turn a Premier League squad place into something more substantial at Aston Villa.
