Originally hailing from England, Jayden Richardson, born on the 4th of September, 2000, is a competent defender currently wearing the number 2 jersey for St Mirren. In the summer of 2017, the right back began his career as a trainee at Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League. Despite his relative inexperience, Richardson managed to make an impression in his inaugural 2021-2022 season, making two first team appearances in league matches.
Inevitably, loan moves followed. In August of 2019, Richardson left Nottingham Forest to ply his trade at Exeter City in League One. Upon completion of his loan stint, he returned to his parent club in June 2020 and evidently benefitted from the experience obtained, recording another two league appearances for Forest in his debut season of 2021-2022.
September 2020 saw the English lad venture to Forest Green Rovers in the National League on loan. He returned to Nottingham Forest in June 2021 after another successful loan stint. His return was marked with another two first team appearances in league matches.
Ringing in the new year in December 2021, Richardson landed at Notts County in League Two on loan from Nottingham Forest. Six months later, in July 2022, he waved goodbye to Forest for the first time and crossed the border, sealing a move to Aberdeen in Scotland's Premiership for an undisclosed fee.
The 2022-2023 season at Aberdeen saw Richardson play a key role, garnering 19 first team appearances in league matches. Despite his growing influence at Aberdeen, the Scotish wind delivered him a change - two loan spells to Stockport County in League One and subsequently, Colchester United of League Two, both in England during the calendar year of 2023.
After a year spent gaining more valuable match experience, Richardson returned to Aberdeen in June 2024. However, his stint in Scotland was brief. In September 2024, he found himself back in England, securing a move to Boreham Wood in the National League.
The mercenary defender's career path led him back to Scottish soil in July 2025, as St Mirren secured his services. At present, Richardson has played one first team league match in the current 2025-2026 season.
Richardson has also featured in the League Cup 2025-2026 for St Mirren, where he managed to find the back of the net twice in his three starts and one substitute appearance.
