Now, apparently there's a bloke by the name of Jayden Meghoma charming his way round the Scottish Premiership. Born on a mild summer's day in 2006 (that makes him 19 years of age, pray you're keeping up) in England, he exists within the sphere of football as a defender with a leaning towards left-back positions—not that we can fathom why anyone would willingly choose that career path. He sports the number 30 jersey and manages to uphold his bodily integrity at a height of 5 ft 8 in (1.75m) and a weight of 11 st 2lb (71kg).
This lad currently holds a market value sniffing around the £500k mark, which is approximately the price of a decent semi in a middling neighbourhood, as uncovered by the good folks over at Transfermarkt.
In the whirlwind that passes for a modern footballer's career, the year 2022 saw our young lad shipped off to Southampton's Championship team. Proceeding to add the chaos of the 'beautiful game', Meghoma pranced over to Brentford's Premier League team in England for a fee approximating £5m in 2024. The prodigious first season at Brentford was, to the uninitiated, a dramatic failure or, to the seasoned veteran, exactly expected: a grand total of one first team appearance in league matches.
Apparently dissatisfied with his solitary conquest, Meghoma was packed off on loan to Preston North End in the Championship in 2025, where he amassed a respectable haul of 12 first team appearances in league matches. No sooner had we settled into his new pattern than he sprung back to Brentford on completion of his loan.
In a frankly stunning display of indecision, he was spirited away on loan to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership in 2025. Here he has enlightened us with a dazzling seven first team appearances in league matches in the current season.
But our Jayden is a diligent chap. He's also graced the League Cup with one start, slogged through two starts in the Champions League Qualifiers, and warmed up in the Europa League with three starts for our dear Rangers. An absolute joy to behold, our Jayden.
