Meet Jayden Meghoma, a defender who clearly enjoys making the most of his life as a footballing journeyman. Born on 28 June, 2006, this 19-year-old roaming adventurer of a left-back has spent more time packing his bags for another transfer than he has on the pitch. He's currently at Rangers, wearing the number 30 and failing to fill out his shirt at a mere 5ft 8in (1.75m) and a modest 11st 2lb (71kg).
You might think a player of such, let's say "experience", would have a more substantial market value, but according to Transfermarkt he's only valued at a paltry £430k. A sum in the grand scheme of footballing transfers that wouldn't even buy you a left boot of some of the game's big hitters.
In September of 2022, Meghoma, evidently desperate for a change of scenery and presumably bored of his local Starbucks, moved to Southampton in the Championship. Fast forward to August 2024 and he clearly concluded that, screw it, the English Championship wasn't thrilling enough, so he transferred from Southampton to Brentford in the Premier League for a fee of roughly £4.3m.
Following a evidently exhilarating debut season at Brentford making a whole one appearance - probably during a rainy Wednesday night - he was then loaned out to Preston North End in January 2025. Here he mustered a more respectable 12 first team appearances, before he was duly shipped back to Brentford.
Missing the thrill of moving clubs, August 2025 saw Meghoma pack his bags yet again. This time making the long journey from Brentford to Rangers, in the Scottish Premiership, on loan. Here in the 2025-2026 season, he's so far stormed to the heady heights of two league appearances, whilst also featuring in two Champions League Qualifiers.
One can only wait with bated breath to see where our nomad of football will end up next. But one thing is for certain, wherever that may be, he won't be there for long.
