Jason Holt, the 32-year-old Scottish central midfielder for St Johnstone, was born on the 19th of February in 1993. Despite being inches above gnome-sized at a mere 5ft 4in (1.64m) and weighing 11st (70kg), Holt has the audacity to wear the number 7 jersey. Evidently, this was a bold move designed to unsettle the opposition, who are quite likely suffering fits of laughter. He's not exactly pulling in the big bucks, roundabout £213k mark if we're talking Euros-to-Quids (Transfermarkt says so).
Now, let's traipse through his illustrious career, shall we? In July 2010, Holt deigned to throw in his lot with Hearts in the Premiership. He made a whopping one first team appearance in his debut 2010-2011 season. I'm certain the bench was kept warm. Somehow his 1 goal in 2 appearances the next season impressed the high-ups enough to let him stay on for two more seasons where Holt graced the field 44 times and scored a paltry 4 goals. A poor one goal every 11 matches. It's staggering he kept his job.
In a completely out of character move, Holt moved on loan to Raith Rovers in the Championship in November 2011. He played a staggering 5 matches there and scored once, right before returning to Hearts. I'm sure Hearts were overjoyed to have him back. Holt managed to make 62 appearances and scored 7 goals. Efficient, if nothing else.
In January 2015, he crossed the border to Sheffield United for a wee season-long loan, braved the unknowns of the Championship in England and somehow managed to score 5 goals in 16 matches. Quite the step up. An understandably surprised Rangers saw something in him and took him onboard in July 2015 for a bargain £65k. That was a brave two and half seasons with 89 appearances and 12 goals. Almost like they got their money's worth.
Following this, he chose to take a wee holiday to Fleetwood Town in the League Two in England in July 2018. Then it was back across the border to St Johnstone in the Premiership in September 2019. He did the rounds at Livingston, where he made a staggering 137 appearances in four seasons, with 2 goals, before finding his way back to St Johnstone.
Current tally for the 2024-2025 season with St Johnstone is 24 appearances. We're transfixed with bated breath to see if a goal might be on the cards this season. We can only hope.
And, just because it's a gigglesome bit of trivia, Holt has managed to participate in the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 for St Johnstone with a grand total of three starts. Oh, the excitement.
