James Scott, a Scottish-born forward primarily playing as a striker, was born on the 30th August 2000 and currently dawns the number 14 jersey for St Mirren. Standing at a towering 6 foot 2 inches (1.88m) and weighing in at a solid 13 stone 9 pounds (87kg), he is indeed a force to be reckoned with on the pitch.
In the autumn of 2013, Scott embarked on his journey in professional football with his enrolment as a trainee in Motherwell, a club competing in Scotland's Premiership. His debut season 2017 - 2018 at Motherwell, saw him make two first team appearances in league matches. The subsequent 2018 - 2019 season saw him make 12 first team appearances and score his first league goal for the club. His form improved in the 2019 - 2020 season when he made 22 first team appearances and netted three times.
Scott's performances evidently caught the eye of clubs south of the border, leading to his transfer to then Championship side Hull City in January 2020, for an approximate fee of £1.5m. He made seven first team appearances, finding the back of the net once in the remaining 2019 - 2020 season. However, opportunities were scarce in the 2021 - 2022 season, with Scott managing to make just a single first team appearance.
In a short-lived stint during August 2021, the youngster was put on loan to Hibernian of the Scottish Premiership from Hull city. He made 16 first team appearances and scored four goals in the 2021 - 2022 season. Following the end of his loan in June 2022, he returned to Hull City, yet again making sparse appearances in the first team before being transferred to Exeter City in England's League One in January 2023, where he made four first team appearances in his debut season.
Another loan spell followed in January 2024, this time to Scottish club St Mirren. Scott's time at St Mirren proved slightly more fruitful, with the forward making 11 first team appearances and scoring a goal in the 2023 - 2024 season. Subsequently, he was transferred from Exeter City to St Mirren permanently in July 2024, making the same number of appearances in the following 2024 - 2025 season but failing to score a goal. His performance, however, hasn't been up to the mark in the current 2025 - 2026 season, with Scott yet to make an appearance in the league.
Scott also took part in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 for St Mirren, making one start and two appearances as a substitute, and the Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025 for St Mirren making one appearance as a substitute.
