Jackson Irvine

Jackson Irvine of Cerezo Osaka was born in Melbourne, Australia on 7 March 1993 (age 33).

Jackson Irvine, born in Melbourne on 7 March 1993 (age 33), came through at Celtic as a trainee before his senior career took shape elsewhere. The Australian central midfielder left Celtic for Ross County in July 2015, a sensible step for a player needing regular football rather than a place on the edge of things in Glasgow.

Ross County gave him a platform, and Burton Albion brought his most productive league season. In 2016-2017 he scored 10 goals in 42 league appearances, a return that helped move him beyond the category of former Celtic prospect and into something more substantial.

Further spells followed with Hull City and Hibernian, before he established himself more fully at St Pauli. His career has since taken him to Cerezo Osaka, where he is primarily used in central midfield and wears No 36. In 2026-2027 he has made four J1 League appearances, remaining part of the first-team picture.

Irvine has also stayed relevant internationally with Australia. This season he has made four World Cup appearances and 14 appearances in Asian World Cup qualifying, scoring three times in the qualifiers.

His career began at Celtic, but it has been built through steady moves, regular minutes and a durable role for club and country. He is now an established Australian midfielder with a varied route behind him and current involvement in Japan.
