Here we have another marvellous specimen of the football world: Jack Sanders. This laddie came into our lives on 18 March 1999, embodying the broad shoulders of the English. Nearing his mid-twenties, at age 25, he's crafted a career as a defender trying to prevent the round thing from going into the rectangle. He's currently putting in his graft as a central defender for St Johnstone and stands at a shelf-dusting height of 6ft 5in (1.97m). Bloody tall, indeed! He also tips the scales at 13st 9lb (87kg). It’s probably all those pies, which is the Brits secret weapon, after all. He wears the number 5 jersey, presumably to match the sum total of goals we might expect him to score in his career.
Our lad Sanders has been appraised at €175k, which is equivalent to around £151k, or thereabouts. Now, who am I to question the accuracy of such assessments? But if you wish to, you can click right here to find out how anyone came up with that figure. Sanders' contract with St Johnstone is all set to expire on 31 May 2026. So, he's got around 1 year and 9 months remaining, by which time, he might just have approached the double digits for his career goal tally.
Sanders started his Scottish adventure with Cove Rangers back in the 2022 - 2023 season. He made 12 first team appearances and even bagged a goal, probably celebrating by screaming at the sky, considering how often he gets to do that.
Knocking about with Kilmarnock in the same season, our boy managed to sneak in a paltry four first team appearances. What happened there, Sanders? Injured? Out of breath? Or simply fancying a stint on the bench?
Moving to Ayr United for the 2023 - 2024 season, Sanders did manage to up his game a bit. He scraped together 14 first team appearances and, to his great credit, found the well-hidden back of the net once. Bravo!
It seems Sanders has now arrived in 2024 - 2025 with St Johnstone. So far, he has made a grand total of five first-team appearances. His trajectory of appearances seems to be spiralling downward.
Not content with his league performances, Sanders has also graced the League Cup 2024 - 2025, where, lo and behold, he managed to find the net once in four starts. A momentous day to remember. He must have splashed out on an extra helping of haggis that night!
So, there you have it, the remarkable football journey of our great friend, Jack Sanders. Certainly, a story to tell the grandchildren, assuming he finds the time between all his bench-sitting duties.
