Born on 12 February 2002, Jack Newman is a 23-year-old goalkeeper for Dundee United, Scotland's Premiership team. Standing at 6ft 3in (1.92m) tall and weighing 12st 8lb (80kg), this large, imposing figure cuts an impressive sight in the number 13 jersey.
Newman commenced his professional football journey as a trainee at Sunderland in the English Championship in July 2017. His performance soon caught the attention of Dundee United, which led to his transfer from Sunderland to the Scottish Premiership team in July 2020. Despite proving himself to be a capable player, his first team opportunities have been limited, having made only four first team appearances in the 2022-2023 season, while none in the current 2024-2025 season.
Interestingly, Newman has had multiple stints on loan. He was loaned out to The Spartans in Scotland's League Two from February to June in 2022, following which he was loaned to Peterhead in the same league. At Peterhead, he managed five first-team appearances in the 2022-2023 season before returning to Dundee. In 2024, Newman was transferred to Inverness CT, in the League One, on a loan which ended in October that year. Then, in January 2025, he was loaned out to Livingston in the Championship before returning once again to Dundee United in Scotland's Premiership.
Currently, his market value is close to £127k, according to Transfermarkt. His current contract with Dundee United is set to expire on 31 May 2025.
