In-beom Hwang, born on 20 September 1996 (age 29), is a South Korean central midfielder with Porto. He is valued at around £8.5m by Transfermarkt, a fair reflection of a player who has built a solid European career without needing much theatre around it.
His most productive league season came at Red Star in 2023-24, when he scored five goals in 27 appearances. That spell showed the more rounded side of his game: not just a midfield passer, but one capable of arriving at useful moments and adding a bit of end product.
At Porto, Hwang remains part of the first-team picture in 2026-27. He has made six appearances across all competitions, including one in the league, one in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira and four in the Europa League. That is enough to keep him relevant in a strong squad, even if he is not being dressed up as the main event.
He has also stayed involved with South Korea, with three World Cup appearances this season, scoring once, as well as 15 appearances in Asian World Cup qualifying. His career to this point is that of an established international midfielder who has moved through Red Star to Porto and remains active at club and country level.
