Hyunjun Yang, born on 25 May 2002 (age 23), is a South Korean winger who came through at Gangwon FC before Celtic brought him to Glasgow in July 2023 for around £2m. His best league return in Korea had come the year before, with eight goals in 36 appearances for Gangwon, enough to suggest there was more there than a speculative punt.
At Celtic, Yang has had to earn his minutes in a wide area where patience is not always abundant. Wearing squad number 13, he has remained part of the first-team picture rather than drifting to the margins, and in 2024/25 he was involved in a squad that won the Premiership, League Cup and Scottish Cup.
The 2025/26 season has given his Celtic career a bit more substance. He has made 28 league appearances and scored seven goals, with further minutes in the League Cup, Scottish Cup, Champions League qualifiers and Europa League. Across the campaign for Celtic he has 43 appearances and nine goals, with his form generally solid and consistent rather than spectacular. That will do for now.
Yang has also stayed in the South Korea set-up, making three appearances in Asian World Cup qualifying this season. His current market value is around £2.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
His career is still taking shape: a productive spell at Gangwon, a move to Celtic, domestic trophies in Scotland, and a growing role in the current side. He remains a useful, developing wide option rather than a finished article, which is probably the most honest reading of where he stands.
