Hatem Abd Elhamed, born in Kafr Manda on 18 March 1991 (age 35), is an Israeli right-back whose career has been shaped more by FC Ashdod than by any of the higher-profile stops around it. Ashdod has been the recurring line through his football, with 105 league appearances and one league goal across five seasons.
The early moves away from Ashdod helped broaden him out rather than redefine him. His most productive league season came at Dinamo Bucureşti in 2014-15, when he scored three times in 13 appearances, a useful return for a defender and a sign of the edge he could bring from full-back.
Celtic came into the story in July 2019, signing Abd Elhamed from Hapoel Be’er Sheva for around £1.5m.
