Our starlet in focus today, ladies and gents, is Hamza Igamane--a spry fellow indeed. Born on the 2nd of November, 2002, in the exotic lands of Morocco, he now spends his time knocking about as a striker for Rangers. Tipping the scales at 12st 1lb (that's 77kg in all that nonsense metric malarkey) and standing at a relatively uncompromising height of 5ft 11in (or 1.81m for you continentals), this lad packs quite a punch in the form of his number 29 jersey.
In the balmy days of 2021, our young Hamza signed with FAR Rabat over in the Botola in Morocco. It was a decent debut season (2022 - 2023, for those of you keeping score at home), in which he made 18 first team appearances and managed to find the back of the net six times. The following season (2023 - 2024, if your maths is failing you) saw a slight uptick in form, with Igamane gracing the pitch 20 times and bagging seven goals.
By the summer of ’24, this Moroccan maverick had his sights set further afield. A move to the Scottish Premiership saw him don the red, white and blue of Rangers, for a modest sum of just £1.5m. It's a bloody steal, if you ask me.
And what's he been up to in this current season (2024-2025)? Well, he's been a busy lad, that's for sure. A respectable tally of 31 appearances numbers alongside an 11-goal haul in league matches. It's alright, I suppose, if you fancy that sort of mediocrity.
Now, let's talk cup competition. For Rangers this season, he's given us an encore with one start in the League Cup and a spectacular solo outing in the Scottish Cup. Not to forget his stellar performances in the Europa League, where his scoring boots certainly came alive--four goals from four starts and six substitute appearances.
That's Igamane for you. A lot of running about, a few goals here and there, and a whole load of untapped potential. Just like every other striker, really. In fact, one might wonder why we're talking about him at all, but there you have it.
