Habib Maïga, born on 1 January 1996 (age 30), is an Ivory Coast central defensive midfielder now with Ferencvaros. His career has been shaped less by constant movement than by one long, substantial spell in France.
Metz is the club that gives his career its clearest line. Across six seasons there, Maïga made 128 league appearances and scored seven league goals, building the kind of record that comes from being trusted over time rather than briefly admired. His most productive league campaign came in 2018-19, when he scored twice in 16 appearances.
The early loan football around his development helped put him on that path, but it was at Metz that his senior career properly settled. Since then, his move to Ferencvaros has taken him into another setting, though the main body of his work remains that long spell in Metz midfield.
