Swedish-born Gustaf Lagerbielke, born 10 April 2000, is a 25-year-old formidable presence on the football pitch. A central defender by nature, Lagerbielke stands at 1.91m (6ft 3in) tall and weighs 80kg (12st 8lb). His career has seen him don the number 14 jersey for Portugal's SC Braga and represent his home country, Sweden, at the national level.
His aptitude on the field has garnered him a notable market value of approximately £2.5m, as verified by an assessment from Transfermarkt.
Lagerbielke embarked on his professional football journey in January 2019, starting with Sollentuna FK, a modest club in the Division 2 league in Sweden. From there, in 2021, he made the move to a higher division by transferring to Vasteras SK, a club in Sweden's Superettan.
However, Lagerbielke's break came later that year, in August, when he transferred to IF Elfsborg, one of Sweden's top-tier Allsvenskan clubs, for an undisclosed fee. Through the course of his time at IF Elfsborg, Lagerbielke made considerable strides, making a total of 24 first-team appearances and scoring two goals in league matches over three seasons.
During his tenure at Elfsborg, Lagerbielke experienced a short loan spell at another Allsvenskan club, Degerfors IF, during 2022. His performance while on loan was impactful, with 14 first-team appearances and three goals to his name.
Yet it was in 2023 that Lagerbielke would have his first taste of Scottish football. Transferring from IF Elfsborg, Lagerbielke joined Celtic for a fee of around £3m. He made seven first-team appearances for the Bhoys during the 2023-2024 season.
Despite a loan spell at FC Twente in the Netherlands where he made 20 first-team appearances and scored one goal, Lagerbielke's time at Celtic was brief. He transferred from Celtic to SC Braga in Portugal for a fee of approximately £2.2m in July 2025. This season, the 2025-2026 season, saw Lagerbielke rake in four first-team appearances in league matches for SC Braga. Furthermore, he participated in the Europa League Qualifiers 2025 - 2026 for SC Braga with five starts.
Whilst his time with Celtic was rather fleeting, Gustaf Lagerbielke showcased resilience and adaptability, key traits for a central defender. Whether it be in the Netherlands, Sweden or Scotland, Lagerbielke's football journey denotes the mark of a player who's willing to strive and adapt, no matter the circumstances or the league.
