Gregor Kobel, born on 6 December 1997 (age 28), is a Switzerland goalkeeper and Borussia Dortmund’s number 1. An imposing 6ft 4in (1.93m), he is valued at around £34m by Transfermarkt.
His early senior path was modest rather than dramatic. A one-appearance league season with 1899 Hoffenheim in 2018-19 formed part of the grounding before his career took its proper shape elsewhere.
Dortmund is where the profile has hardened. Across six seasons he has made 149 league appearances for the club, a substantial run for a goalkeeper at a place where scrutiny is rarely in short supply.
