Born on the 4th of August 1991, Graeme Shinnie is a seasoned professional footballer from Scotland. He currently stands his ground in the heartland of the pitch for Aberdeen, predominantly playing as a central defensive midfielder. Shinnie is a modest lad, standing at 5ft 8in (1.75m) and weighing 11st 4lb (72kg), but his presence is anything but small when he wears the number 4 jersey. His current market value according to Transfermarkt is roughly £260k with his existing contract with Aberdeen looking to expire by the end of May 2026.
Coming back to his early years, in July 2008, Shinnie joined Inverness CT in the Scottish League One as a trainee. He made his first team debut in the 2009 - 2010 season and in the following years, he racked up a steady number of league appearances, scoring occasional goals. He had a stint that lasted until 2015, where he scored a handful of goals over the years and made himself a staple in the teams.
By July 2015, Shinnie had caught the eye of Aberdeen and he made his transfer from Inverness CT to the Premiership club. Over the next years at Aberdeen, he became a constant on the team sheet, making regular appearances and netting a few goals here and there. His football journey took a turn in July 2019, when he left the Scottish Premiership to join Derby County in the English Championship. Unfortunately, his time at Derby County was less fruitful, with a decrease in the number of appearances and goals.
In a surprising turn of events, Shinnie moved from Derby County to Wigan Athletic in England's League One in January 2022. However, his stay at Wigan was brief, and he was loaned back to his familiar grounds at Aberdeen the following year. Post his loan stint, he moved permanently back to Aberdeen in July 2023 for an undisclosed fee.
Looking at the current season (2024 - 2025), Shinnie has again made himself a permanent name on the Aberdeen team, with 33 appearances and one goal. In the past year, SHinnie has also participated significantly in the League Cup for Aberdeen, scoring two goals in six starts, and the Scottish Cup scoring one goal in his successive starts. He put in quite the effort for his team in the Conference League of 2023 - 2024, with four starts to his name.
