Glenn Middleton, the seasoned forward primarily occupying the left wing, was born in the land south of Hadrian's Wall - England, to be specific - on the first day of the millennium. As of the current year, 2025, this puts him at a reasonably fresh 25 years of age. Standing at a sturdy 5ft 9in (1.76m for you lovely metric folk), and weighing in at about 10st 9lb (or 68kg if you're into that kind of thing), he currently plies his trade for Dundee United, wearing the number 15. A forward who's done more loan spells than a community library’s book collection.
According to the football aficionados over at Transfermarkt, Middleton's current market value is hovering around the £297k mark, of course, it wouldn't be the first time the financial experts have got it wrong. His contract with Dundee United is on a count-down, with just 2 months left and an impending expiration date on 31 May 2025.
But let’s dive into the past a little, shall we? Perhaps we'll find some truly riveting tales. Poor young Glenn began his career in July 2012, with Norwich City in the Championship as a trainee. Middleton spent five and a half years there before transferring to Rangers in Scotland for an undisclosed fee - the secrecy is just tantalising isn't it?
During the 2018/2019 season at Rangers, Middleton waved hello to the pitch 15 times, the net twice, and the crowds... well, I didn't count those. Then the loan carousel started spinning. First stop, in August 2019: Hibernian, where he clocked in six incomparable first-team appearances. After the idyllic adventure in Hibs, it was back to Rangers.
Seemingly not having enough of the travelling circus, Middleton then journeyed south city, joining Bradford City on another loan contract. After his stint in the shadow of the Pennines, he returned once more to Rangers having added an uncountable number of loan air-miles onto his resume.
January 2021 saw our intrepid traveller transfer once more, this time to St Johnstone, again on loan of course. A season and a half there saw him put on a show 37 times, and tally a pitifully modest three goals for the statisticians out there.
Finally, in July 2022, Middleton found a more permanent hearth at Dundee United. During his tenure at the terrors, Middleton amassed 89 appearances and slotted home eight goals across 2 and a half seasons. We can only hope he feels at home, given the frequency with which he’s seen the inside of a moving truck, yet he's only ever had the pleasure of being a substitute for Dundee United in their League Cup and Scottish Cup campaigns of 2024/2025. Truly, the ride of Middleton's career is riveting.
