Eboue Kouassi is an Ivory Coast central defensive midfielder, born on 13 December 1997 (age 28). Celtic brought him in from Krasnodar in January 2017 for around £3m, a sizeable outlay for a young midfielder still finding his way in European football.
His time at Celtic became an early chapter rather than the main body of his career. In July 2020 he left for Genk for around £1.5m, moving on after a spell that had promised more than it ultimately delivered.
After Celtic, Kouassi had periods with Genk and União Leiria before finding a steadier run at Arouca. His most productive league season came there in 2021-22, when he scored once in 19 appearances.
He is now with União Leiria, wearing squad number 88, and has made two Liga Portugal 2 appearances in 2026-27. His career has moved from a high-profile Celtic transfer into a more settled path in Portugal, built around the practical work of a defensive midfielder.
