Let's take a wee journey on the tumultuous career path of Dylan Lobban, a native-born Scot born on the 26th of August in 2005. As of now, the lad's age is 20, and he shows no sign of slowing down.
Primarily a midfielder and the proud bearer of jersey number 38, Lobban shows a particular affinity for the central attacking role when he's not warming a bench someplace. His chosen pitch? Aberdeen, a fine choice for any man, even if it's a touch lacking the prestige of Celtic Park. He stands a decent 5ft 8in tall (or 1.75m for those partial to a French yardstick) and tips the scales at a trim 10st 9lb (that's 68kg for anyone preferring it in metric).
Back in July of 2020, Lobban decided to get his boots muddy with the Premiership big boys and joined Aberdeen as a trainee. Perhaps the laddie got a touch too cocky or the Premiership proved a bit too hot; either way, he found himself with a one-way ticket, albeit temporarily, from Aberdeen to Formartine United in the Highland League in Scotland in August of 2023. Scenic, if nothing else.
By January of 2024, it seems Lobban missed the rough and tumble of professional football. He packed his kit bag and headed on loan to Forfar Athletic in League Two. But come June, he was back in the heart of Aberdeen, perhaps pining for the bright city lights, till he was again on his way to Cove Rangers in League One for an unremarkable spell starting in September of 2024 and ending in June of 2025.
Tidying up a few loose ends, it should be mentioned that the lad got his cleats on for three starts in the Conference League 2025 - 2026 for Aberdeen, but of course, some would argue he should have been earning his keep at a real club. But then, who are we to judge?
