Ah, meet Dujon Sterling, born in England's green and pleasant land on the 24th of October 1999. Seeing as he's just 24 years young, one may wonder if the poor lad's lost his way up North, winding up a defender for the Rangers. A right back, to be precise. Stands about 6ft 1in tall, and knocks the scales at 12st 10lb. Our Sterling chum flits about in a number 21 jersey too, if numerical apparel is of interest to you.
In the season of 2023-24, Sterling graced the Premiership pitch 24 times, with 11 starts and 13 rather tardy appearances as a substitute. On top of this, he sauntered out thrice onto the battleground of the Scottish Cup and chipped in with a solitary goal in the Europa League across three frolics. A sterling effort indeed, I'm sure some would say, though I defer to the judgement of the drunks in the stands.
Sterling's now into his sophomore season at Rangers. Not that you'd know it from the team sheet - 2024's season came and went without a peep of our Mr Sterling's boot clattering a ball. He'd been a bit more active in the one before, making 24 appearances, but consistency doesn't seem to be his strong suit.
Back in day - the 2022-2023 season, if you're keepin' tabs - Sterling was mucking in with Stoke City. He managed 26 first team appearances in the Potteries. Presumably, they got tired of him, and sent him north.
And before Stoke, there was Blackpool, where Sterling managed another 24 outings in the 2021-22 season. A seaside jaunt that briefly interrupted his England-based club-hopping.
The tour begins at Wigan Athletic, his debut season of 2019-2020. Eight first team appearances, definitive proof that it's quality not quantity... or perhaps not. A struggling start for our migrating defenseman.
From Wigan, to Blackpool, to Stoke and finally Rangers. Quite the national tour for Mr Sterling. Football player or stand-up comedian on a nationwide gig, sometimes it's hard to tell.
