Here we are then, discussing the proverbial journeyman, Dujon Sterling, born 24th of October, 1999 (now aged 25), a comfortable Welsh chap who finds himself as one of the chosen few to wear the number 21 jersey as a defender. This right-back for Rangers stands tall at 1.86 metres (6ft 1in for those of us who prefer to keep our feet on the ground). Sterling tips the scales at 81 kg (or a strapping 12st 10lb for those still clutching a Beef and Onion pie), just about what you'd expect for a lad his size.
His modest career began back in July 2015 when Sterling, in what must have seemed like a dream, joined Premier League club Chelsea as a trainee. Fast forward to July 2018 and Sterling finds himself shipped out on loan to Coventry City, still in good old England, but now slumming it in the Championship.
Unsatisfied with his first taste of gallivanting, Sterling made another move the following year in August 2019. Chelsea, showing their continued faith in the lad, loaned him out yet again, this time to Wigan Athletic. If anything, his first season there, 2019 - 2020, was a study in the art of cameo appearances. Sterling managed to squeeze in only eight appearances in league matches. Which is, for the record, quite remarkable.
The following season, in August 2021, Sterling embarked on another merry adventure, landing himself a stint on loan at Blackpool. His 2021 - 2022 season, greatly overshadowed his previous one, with 24 league matches under his belt.
Fast-forward a tad, to September 2022 and low and behold, Sterling found himself changing addresses yet again. This time Stoke City were the lucky recipients of the Chelsea cast-off, taking him on loan for the 2022 - 2023 season in which he made 26 first team appearances in league matches.
By July 2023, Sterling, seeming to be in the perpetual state of suitcases and departure lounges, made the move to the place previously unmentioned - Rangers, all the way up here in Scotland - Independent Scots making our dear English neighbours reach for their Geography textbooks, I dare say. His 2023 - 2024 season at Rangers allowed him 24 first-team appearances in league matches, followed by a further 20 appearances in the 2024 - 2025 season. As for the current 2025 - 2026 season, he's yet to make his mark on the pitch.
However, let's not erase his slightly more noteworthy contributions in the 2023 - 2024 Europa League for Rangers, where he managed to net a whole goal from one start and two substitute appearances - a success by any standard, or at least by his.
