Dominic Thompson, born on the 26th of July 2000 in England, is a tenacious defender, typically filling the role of a left back. This relatively short fellow stands at 5 foot 6 inches (1.7m) tall and weighs in at roughly 10 stone 1 pounds (64 kgs).
The tale of his career takes us back to July 2013 when, fresh-faced and eager, he became a trainee with the renowned Arsenal FC in the English Premier League. However, his time at Arsenal was to come to an end in August 2019 when a transfer saw him switch allegiance to Brentford, also in the Premier League, for a fee which remains undisclosed to this day. His tenure at Brentford, spanning the seasons from 2019 to 2022, saw Thompson make appearances in only eight league matches.
In January 2021, Thompson embraced the opportunity to play for Swindon Town in England's League Two, moving there on a loan agreement. However, his heart belonged to Brentford, as demonstrated by his return to the Premier Club in June of the same year following the completion of his loan agreement with Swindon Town. His time back at Brentford was quite similar to his previous tenure, as he featured in only a handful of first team league matches from 2019 to 2022.
January 2022 saw yet another transfer, this time leaving Brentford for a loan spell with Ipswich Town in the Championship. His journey was far from over though, and in July 2022 Thompson was back on the move. This time, he transferred on a permanent basis from Brentford to Blackpool in League One, again for an undisclosed fee. The 2022-2023 season was a busy one for Thompson at Blackpool, featuring in 28 first-team league matches.
Thompson's path took a different turn in January 2024 when he transferred from Blackpool to Forest Green Rovers in the National League on a loan agreement. Come June of the same year, he found himself returning to Blackpool at the completion of his loan, featuring in a sizeable number of first-team league matches from 2022 to 2023.
Remarkably, it wasn't until January 2025 when Thompson crossed the border northwards, transferring from Blackpool in England's League One to Motherwell, situated in Scotland's Premiership. In essence, he became an adopted Scot, making 15 first team appearances in league matches during the 2024-2025 season for Motherwell.
However, as of June 2025, it appears this globe-trotting footballer is yet again on the move, recently transferring from Motherwell in Scotland's Premiership to a destination not yet declared. I daresay we're all eager to see where the ambitious Dominic Thompson will land next. As they say, football isn't simply a game, it's a way of life.
