Meet Djeidi Gassama, whose birth year of 2003 makes him the ripe old age of 21. Gassama, a product of far-off Mauritania, is a striker by trade but has found his most impactful role as a crafty left winger for none other than Rangers. Equalling a not-so-imposing stature of 5ft 9in (or 1.77m if we're going European), and lumbering around the pitch at just 11st (or 70kg, again, for our continental mates). He can be spotted wearing the number 23 with various degrees of success.
His current market value, is estimated at a delightful £1.7m (according to Transfermarkt). However, he's ours for now, at least until his contract expires on the dreary dawn of June 30, 2029.
Harking back to his days as a naive trainee in 2019, we find Gassama situated at Paris Saint-Germain, making a grand total of one first team appearance in league matches during his debut season of 2021 - 2022.
Soon our lone ranger found himself transferred on loan to Eupen in the Challenger Pro League in Belgium where he was seemingly more appreciated, making 19 first team appearances and even poked the ball into the net twice in the 2022 - 2023 season.
Gassama evidently prefers the land of chips and gravy to that of champagne and baguettes, making his way to Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship in England for a sum yet to be revealed, where he spent the next two seasons. Over 2023 to 2025, he made 78 first team appearances scoring a positively dizzying total of 10 league goals.
In 2025, Gassama was on the move yet again, leaving the undulating hills of Yorkshire to enjoy the splendiferous climate that Scotland has to offer. Joining Rangers for a modest fee of £2.2m, in his current season he has notched up two appearances.
However, in a bright spot in his rather lacklustre career, he's managed to score four goals in Champions League Qualifers over a single start and two substitute appearances. A glimmer of hope, perhaps. But let's not get carried away.
