Born on 25 July 1966 in Scotland, Darren Jackson is a striker currently plying his trade for Clydebank. Standing at 5ft 10in (1.78m) and weighing 11 stone (70kg), Jackson began his career in Scottish football with Livingston in the Championship in 1985. He made an impressive start, scoring 17 goals in 39 first team appearances during his debut season. At Livingston, he was able to maintain a relatively consistent scoring rate before eventually making a move to Newcastle United in the English Premier League in 1987.
At Newcastle United, Jackson made 23 appearances and scored three goals in his first season. Despite a slight dip in performance during the subsequent two seasons, he was a consistent presence on the team. In 1989, Jackson returned to Scotland, joining Dundee United in the Premiership where he spent four seasons, making a respectable impact with 48 goals in 87 appearances.
In 1992, Jackson joined Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. Over five seasons at Hibs, Jackson became a regular feature in the starting lineup and contributed a steady flow of goals, scoring 50 times in 173 appearances.
Perhaps the most significant move in Jackson's career occurred in July 1997 when he joined Celtic in the Premiership, for an approximate fee of £1.3m. His time at Celtic was, unfortunately, not as successful as his previous stints. In the 1997-1998 season, Jackson made 23 first team appearances and managed to score thrice. However, his playing time noticeably dropped in the following season. Despite this, his time at Celtic was marked by an unwavering tenacity on the pitch and a dedicated commitment to the squad.
Following his spell at Celtic, Jackson had brief spells at Hearts, a return stint at Livingston, and St Johnstone before ending his career with Clydebank. Throughout his career, Jackson exhibited a healthy scoring rate and was a consistent presence on any team he was a part of, contributing not only with goals but also with his experience and professionalism on and off the pitch.
