Introducing Danny Wilson, the defender, currently showcasing his talents at Livingston. Born on 27 December 1991 (for those not quick at arithmetic, that would make him a sprightly 33), he dons the jersey emblazoned with the number 27 - you have to appreciate the symmetry. Our lad graces the scene standing generously at 6ft 2in (that's 1.88m for those who've embraced the continental lifestyle) and tips the scales at 12st 3lb (78kg for the metrically inclined).
Now you may wonder what exactly it is that Mr Wilson brings to the table. Sit tight, as according to Transfermarkt, his esteemed market value bobs somewhere around the £134k, give or take a penny.
Wilson decided to jump into the deep end and joined Rangers back in July 2007. The records would lead you to believe that in his debut season (2009 - 2010, to be precise), he took to the field 14 times, even managing to kiss the back net on one laudable occasion. He continued his Rangers journey until season 2017-2018, impressing with a total of 14 appearances and three sterling goals. His departure to the shiny lights of Liverpool ensued for the humble sum of around £2m in July 2010. Put politely, his stint in England could be described as.. minimalist, with only two first team league appearances to note in 2010 - 2011.
The following years saw Wilson gallivant around the leagues, with loan stints at Blackpool and Bristol city in 2012 and 2013 respectively, before a spell at Hearts. Settling in splendidly, he made 76 appearances and bagged a respectable 11 goals over three seasons.
A return to Rangers was plotted in July 2015, once he'd had enough of playing for Hearts (probably the Call of the wild, one guesses.) His second spell was reasonably productive, with a tally of 30 appearances and one goal in his first returning season (2015 - 2016).
Fast-forwarding to January 2018, Wilson flew the coop, cross the Atlantic to join Colorado Rapids in the MLS, for a fee that you'd find if you rummage under the sofa cushions: a mere £250k. After a stint at Queen's Park in 2024, Wilson now graces the green fields of Livingston, where he has manned the fort 21 times and impressed fans with four goals in the ongoing season (2025 - 2026).
In addition to his league performance, he made a decent fist of it in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 and the Scottish Cup tournament 2024 - 2025. With Livingston, he made three appearances, while his participation in Prem. Play-offs 2024-2025 for Livingston saw three goals in four starts.
What awaits Danny Wilson is anyone's guess, just as much as it is his guess, probably. But what's clear is that here's a man determined to write a few more tomes in his footballing career. So to the brave and the not-at-all-reckless - place your bets.
